ThE SuN wEnt AwAy...

The sun....is gone.

It's cold.
The 75 degree weather changed to 45 degree weather over night.
No more pool.
No more sun.
sad.

On a happier note...we have been cooking a LOT.

The Breakfast Crew of 245 has cooked eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits...etc the past three days in a row!
AMAZING.
day 1...
Chef Joey and the Head of Cleaning Crew Alyssa
fancy ...no?
So usually Joey and Dom cook and Alyssa and I watch...it's a beautiful thing.
Yesterday, I made Joey an omelette.
Turned out more like a scrambled omelette, but oh well.
Yes..he IS wearing the same shirt.
This kitchen is a little small for three chefs, but we made it work.

Chef Dominique working on the turkey bacon.
He is a morning person for sure.

Day 1 we attempted to cook the turkey bacon, but it burned..pretty badly.
Not as bad as the chicken back in York, but you get the idea.

Dominique figured out that the turkey bacon just needs extra love and attention.
You have to turn that shit like all the time or it sticks to the pan BAD.

Just perfection.

Day 3!
Alyssa is the official EGG CRACKER as well.
She has perfected her skills at keeping the yoke out for egg whites as well!

Alyssa cracked too many eggs in one bowl to whisk them.
problem.
Yeah...she's still in the robe too :)
Today, Dominique is still very happy.

Day 3 genius idea....BISCUITS!
I cooked them jussssst right.

Family Breakfast setup.
beautiful.

Sun SUN SUN...

Hello SUN! HELLO Durham!
We took our first group FLIGHT! and......
We made it to Durham, NC!
...and it's gorgeous here!
(Alyssa has been laying out by the pool everyday!!)

We are staying at condos here!
We have kitchens!
Everyone bought too many groceries!
There is a beautiful courtyard here by the pool that is so relaxing and literally it has been sunny at like 70-75 degrees!

Some people went hiking and got inspired by the NC beauty.
They decided to try and film a mini movie.
Last night at the opening night after party Matt Ban and I told everyone we were going to film our own movie. We decided to call it..."Matt and Katie go hunting for unicorns"...Matt Ban came up with the name.
(Pretty goooood right!?!)
Of course, "Hey Mickey" was playing at the bar while we came up with this idea.
So far we're thinking a music video to "Hey Mickey" with a unicorn hunt...?
Stay tuned...

Tonight was an exciting night!
The wonderful Patrick Joyce went on as Stacee Jaxx! He ROCKED IT!
SO proud of him.
PS. the DPAC is an amazing theater. Seriously.
We are so lucky to be here!

Philly cheesesteak... Take 2.

We went to Geno's.
It was Sunday.
Our last day in Philly.
We decided we HAD to try Geno's Philly cheesesteak for dinner.
Just to say we did it.
We tried both of the "tourist" spots for cheesesteak.

We were underwhelmed..again.
(But, everyone told us we would be.)

It looks flashy and I love all the orange (it's my favorite color), but not the cheesesteaks.
You can't even get peppers and mushrooms on  them.
(Only steak, cheese, and onions...boring.)
The cheese wasn't even melted either.

OH!..and Pat's "freedom fries" are most definitely better!
That is my $9 cheesesteak.
Yes. Freedom Fries.

My brother ROBERT POSTOTNIK! was in town for the day to see the show.
That's him.
WE split the sub this time.
WE were not impressed.
Yes, I think that is Geno on our cups.
Dom gave it a thumbs down as well and he's a Philly cheesesteak expert!
Sorry Geno's...
Sorry Pat's...
We tried to love you.
We did.

Nausea, heartburn, indigestion.... Upset stomach... Diarrea!

Well no diarrhea...but indigestion for sure...
upset stomach?
YES.
I ate a large Philly cheesesteak sandwich from Pat's King of Steaks here in Philly.
...and fries.

oh yeah.
I ate all of that.

So did they...

We were informed that the two best places to get a Philly cheesesteak sandwich in PHILLY is either Geno's or Pat's.

A kind man, who offered to clean our rental cars windows informed us that Pat's was better.
We did not have him clean our rentals windows, but we did go to Pat's.
Thanks sir.

So these sandwiches were real good.
Personally, I love fries and I loved theirs.
I also thoroughly enjoyed this spicy spicy sauce I added to mine.
(but that's probably why I had an upset tummy)

What I did not like was..

#1 You have to eat outside.
Today, was cold and windy. Both not conducive to cheesesteak eating.
My sammy was getting cold while I was eating and I wanted that thing HOT HOT HOT.

#2 ...too expensive!
My sandwich was $10....+ an additional $6 for fries and a diet coke.
Sorry Pat's, but that's a lot.

Overall, good cheesesteak.
Poor decision to eat it before a performance of Rock of Ages in my panties.

Lesson Learned.

...the video that would NOT upload.

I've been trying to upload this video for days!...(literally since Monday.)
....and here it is...

The ROCK OF AGES tour bus plays:

Mad GABS!

..see long bus days can be really fun!

WiLd NiGhTs in Schenectady, NY!!!

THANK YOU Schenectady!

What an amazing night.
The Friday and Saturday night audiences in Schenectady were out of control!
(In the best of ways!)
Never have I had so much fun onstage with an audience.
The audience was literally singing with us from beginning to end!
Tonight, we had a standing ovation at INTERMISSION.
What a blast.
WE are SO LUCKY.

(OH. Did I mention that people...came ONSTAGE after bows during "Don't Stop Believin'!" There were about 6. crazy. Joey and I were escorting them off during the last chorus before the wonderful Ian Carr came in to save the day!!)

Real Life:
Not only do I do audio, but also security? Escorted drunk patrons Off of the stargaze during curtain call."

Facebook Status Quotes from ROA Cast/Crew:
Holy shit Schenectady this is insane!! Standing ovation for the end of act one!!! I can't even breathe....my whole life I've dreamed of this. I had no idea it could feel this good.
The stage was rushed- a mosh pit was formed- people were drunk and belting along-women were slapped-police were involved----guess we did our job right! and the best part....my parents and brother were there to see the amazingness that is my job! 2 shows left Schenectady--i challenge you to do more than you've already done! :)
Tonight's performance of Rock of Ages included 1,400 drunk people, 6 people removed from the theatre for throwing drinks, bitch slapping and hair pulling. Police are on the way. That's how you do ROA! — at Proctors Theatre.
Remember that time there were 1,500 drunk people, 6 people taken away from the theatre for throwing drinks, and women slapping each other. And then during the bows people joined us on stage with beers????!!!! Just an elegant day at the office that is ROCK OF AGES!!!!!!!!!!!!! you betta weeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkkk
Patrick Joyce
Events that happened at tonights show (not necessarily in order):

-people standing and raising their empty cups of beer to us at Act1 Finale
-entire audience singing along to Every Rose Has It's Thorn through the entire song
-about 10 people coming on stage at the end of the Finale of show and dancing and singing with us...cups of beer in hand
-6 people getting escorted out of the show by the police

-one woman slapping another woman across the face...2 of the 6 that got escorted out

Schenectady, NY.... who knew?
I LOVE MY JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you believe this??
It's real.
This all happened.
ROCK OF AGES is seriously a dream job.

tHe whEels on the bUs gO rOund and rOund....

Post Providence...

This week so far has been a lot of bus time.
We traveled all day Tuesday and Wednesday to Ashland, KY for our Wednesday evening performance.
Thursday...another day on the bus..

Where are we now...?
Buffalo, NY

How to sleep on the bus:

Stephen Kane and Shannon Mullen have it down to a science.
(I have not mastered the technique quite yet.)

I thought I was a seat sleeper.
Nope.
Dominique lives across the seat from me.
He was advised by the lovely Miss Shannon Mullen to get an egg crate/ mattress pad for the floor of the bus.
I requested we share his mattress pad on the floor today.
Bad idea.
I had his feet in my face for the 3 hours while I "tried" to sleep.

Some Rules for next time...
(The Stephen Kane Way:)

step 1: Make it CoZy!
You need bedding to lay on, a top blanket, and a pillow.

step 2: Block out your Senses
Eye Mask and Ear Plugs

step 3: Drugs
Tylenol PM or Melatonin

 Result: A well rested YOU.

I would like to thank Justin Colombo for the lovely "Stupid Bus Gift" that he gave me yesterday!
Mark Wilson's MAGIC in a box
(a very small box with a very small magic wand!)

I would also like to share this picture. This is when Justin's entire suitcase was knocked over while he was packing.
brilliant.
hot mess.

OpEnInG WeeK HiGhtLighTs!

This week FLEW by.
seriously.

Our bus left today at 6:30 am. We arrived in Morgantown, WV around 7pm...tomorrow we travel to Ashland, KY for a performance.

The week in Providence just wonderful.
I'm still obsessed with the beds at the Biltmore Hotel.
I will miss you.

Apparently, the Biltmore Hotel is.... HAUNTED!
Check out this blog...not gonna lie. It freaked me out a bit.
...good thing I wasn't sleeping alone...
http://ghostsofprovidence.blogspot.com/2009/02/biltmore-hotel.html
No worries we survived the week...

Last night we went out to Cheesecake Factory for Stephen Kane's Birthday!

FUN times!

Here's a silly clip from some backstage non-sense last week!

BLOOPERS from week one!
Welcome to the magic of LIVE theater.... :)

During "Every Rose.." one night I was asleep on Franz's knee, as usual, everyone is singing beautifully. When all of a sudden I hear a
CRASH.
I mean usually I hear Matt Nolan go up the steps, but this was louder.
So it turns out that
Matt Nolan...
He fell into an organ that was strategically placed near the steps covered in black.
Ouchie.

Another SHOCKER happened during "Waiting for a Girl." I always watch this number offstage right in the wings. One night, Dominique went to grab the cooler that is filled with wine coolers and yet another  CRASH.
The wine coolers fall out of the cooler next to the car!! Glass and liquid mess!...Dominique...is still singing.
What a nightmare and such an accident! Instead of clinking glasses he goes for a high-five with Shannon! So good.

I had a few bloopers myself this week!
Let me just take a minute to THANK GOD that I didn't fall or trip running down the VERY long aisle from the back of the house to the front of the house at the PPAC before "We're Not Gonna Take It!"
I am very clumsy and that was without a doubt a possibility.

One day I was really "in it." I started singing "We're Not Gonna Take It" made it to the stage, handed off my flyers to my peeps, and then headed back down the steps to give ONE last flyer to a lucky person in the front row. I run down the stairs enthusiastic as always and I yell,
"HUNGER TO THE PROLETARIAT!" while handing some 9 year old boy the flyer.

(I turn around totally embarrassed, but still in the moment!...I think to myself...-what the hell did I just yell....hunger to the working class! Fool. Yeah, that's what the proletariat need Katie hunger.
It's POWER to the Proletariat! POWER!)
I know this.
In my own defense the next time I yell I say "HUNGER Strike."
That still doesn't help does it.
I'm mortified. Did anyone notice??
Well, just incase they did I added in an excited.. Wooo!/scream... once I jumped around and faced the audience again.
That makes things better, right?

Another night, during "We Built This City" I pulled Chris Sams (the Mayor) downstage for the beginning of the song. Well, I must have pulled him hard and his face must have been sweaty because his glasses went FLYING.
They landed a good 3 feet away from me.
I see them go.
I stay in character.
I do that smart thing...grab the glasses!!
I hand them back to Chris in character with an "OOpsies!"
...and continue on like normal.

York, PA...hope you're enjoying the broom Rock of Ages left you! We missed it in Providence during "Nothin' But A Good Time" opening night! tee hee!

From York to Providence!

We made it to PROVIDENCE, RI! ...and OPENING NIGHT!!

...it was an adventure for sure...

check out what happened the night before we left...at 2 AM.

The Great Chicken Fire.

There was no actual fire.
THANK GOD.
I would like to apologize to everyone staying at the Yorktowne Hotel that night for the disturbance and the evacuation.
It was a complete accident. We even called the front desk to tell them that there was NO actual fire right after we set it off, but alas it didn't make a difference. Even though it was just smoking chicken they came.
I guess if you set off the fire alarms in the hallway...the fire department will come no matter what.
We set off the fire alarm in the bedroom like 5 times at the FIESTA.
...good thing we didn't ruin that party!
phew.

The next morning we were up at 6 AM! ...and loading the bus by 6:30 AM!
On our way to Providence!
The morning started off with a BANG! as well.
I was passed out in the seats and didn't even wake up for this event, but apparently our bus driver was speeding! The bus got pulled over in New Jersey.
TICKET.
Police and Firefighters within 24 hrs.
Only Rock of Ages...

Let me just say that Providence, RI...kicks ASS! This town is so cute! Tons of lil shops and a really nice mall is in walking distance. I'm talking like a 3 minute walk! The theater is BEAUTIFUL as well. It's HUGE!
Opening Night we had a house of over 2,000 people! ...and last night they said it was somewhere around 1,700!
Amazing.
The Biltmore Hotel is great too. Let me tell you...these beds are outta this world! The comfiest bed I've slept in I think ever. I signed up at the Boston Sports Club yesterday...hopefully I will make it there to work out ...one day.
